The spirit of an individual not personally known by or connected to the observer, but who is still identifiable as an individual who has passed away, is known as a Historical.

There are many famous historicals. Abraham Lincoln is one as is his murderer, John Wilkes Booth.  Another very well known historical is Lizzie Borden.

But it’s important to remember that “Historical” and “Famous” aren’t necessarily the same thing.  Many, in fact most historicals are famous only because of their paranormal appearances.

The Woman in Black at Fort Warren in Boston Harbor is my personal favorite but there are many, many examples along those lines.  Furthermore, a past owner of the house in which you live, should he or she be deceased and drop by for a visit anyway, would be considered a historical.

Historicals are generally tied to a specific location and stay there for a longer term than many other paranormal entities.
