As I said briefly on the page that brought you here, a residual haunting can best be described as a tape or movie that’s on a continuous loop.

They can occur regularly, every hour or every day at the same time, etc. and are not inter-active in any way.

In other words they seem to be entirely unaware of their surroundings. 

This is why I disagree with those who think this is the most common type of haunting.  These manifestations happen whether they're observed or not.  They don't get nervous when the living are present and they don't get angry or petulant and refuse to appear. 

Therefore I believe that rather than being the most common, they're simply the most commonly observed.  There's a difference...

As I’ve stated before my belief is that the entities we deal with are primarily energy based, this type of haunting best fits that belief since they seem to the best example of energy left behind, or stamped in time.

I’ve never heard of this type of haunting being harmful in any way, and many suggest that it’s nearly impossible to rid yourself of this type of entity.
