The Kinect SLS Camera has an infrared light projector with a monochrome CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) sensor that shows everything as dots arranged in 3D formation.
I'm not sure I get that either so let's say this; The SLS camera is an IR projector that works very much like sonar.
It projects an infrared beam that outlines an image in three dimensions (whether the target is visible to the naked eye or not) with a series of dots, and projects the image back to a tablet monitor.
It works in complete darkness, displays the images in real time, and can record in either still frame or video mode.
